A top Samsung executive referred to the Galaxy Ring as a new wearable health and wellness product, and indicated that it would be launched in the second half of the year.
The announcement from Daniel Seung Lee, global head of B2B wearable/IoT/accessories at Samsung Electronics on LinkedIn, is in line with the previously rumored timeline by a consumer tech analyst which would place the launch of the Galaxy Ring alongside Samsung’s refreshed Galaxy foldables, tablets and watches at the Galaxy Unpacked event in August.
Recently, the Samsung Galaxy Ring was spotted in the Good Lock app, which suggests that the smart ring’s development is underway.
The wearable device, compatible with Android devices, is rumoured to come in sizes up to 13 and it is said to be incredibly lightweight. It will also be offered in three finishes – potentially silver, dark gray and gold, as the prototype showed.
A teaser video confirmed the presence of the heart-rate monitor, support for Samsung Health, and pogo pins on the Galaxy Ring.
