Samsung Display has revealed a new 31.5-inch QD-OLED monitor panel that combines 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate, setting up a new class of premium gaming and creator displays expected to arrive from late 2026.

The panel, announced ahead of Computex 2026 in Taipei, is claimed to be the first QD-OLED monitor panel to deliver 4K at 360Hz.

Until now, high-end OLED monitors typically topped out at 240Hz in 4K, or required users to drop to a lower resolution to reach 360Hz.

Samsung’s new panel also includes a dual-mode feature that can switch to 1080p at up to 680Hz, aimed at competitive gamers who prioritise ultra-high refresh rates over resolution.

Another key upgrade is the company’s revised RGB-style ‘V-stripe’ pixel structure. Current QD-OLED monitors have often been criticised for text fringing and less-than-ideal readability, particularly in productivity work.

Samsung says the new vertical red, green and blue sub-pixel arrangement improves text edges and graphics rendering, making the panel better suited to coding, document work, design and content creation.

The display has also been certified for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600, meaning it can reach at least 600 nits peak brightness while preserving OLED’s deep black levels.

Samsung Display says mass production is scheduled for the second half of 2026 and that it is in discussions with 10 global monitor brands to supply the panel.

While no manufacturers have been named, likely candidates include Samsung Electronics, ASUS, MSI and Dell.

Commercial monitors using the panel are expected to appear from late 2026 or early 2027, with pricing likely to sit firmly in the premium end of the Australian gaming monitor market.
