Australian consumer electronics brand LASER has moved to capitalise on the growing portable display market, with its 14-inch portable monitor going on sale for $99 through June.

The company claims the deal marks the first time Australians have been able to buy a portable monitor locally for under $100. The 14-inch model normally carries an RRP of $149.

The launch comes as portable monitors gain traction among consumers looking for flexible second-screen options for work, study, gaming, streaming and travel. LASER is pitching the product at families, students, hybrid workers and gamers seeking a low-cost way to expand their screen setup.

The 14-inch monitor features a Full HD IPS display, 178-degree viewing angle, adjustable stand, built-in speakers and USB-C connectivity for power, display and audio. It can be used in landscape or portrait orientation and is designed to run from the device it is connected to.

LASER’s broader portable monitor range is also discounted during June. Its 15.6-inch non-touch model is down from $169 to $129 at Harvey Norman and Bing Lee, while the 15.6-inch touchscreen version has been reduced from $199 to $159 at The Good Guys, Harvey Norman and Bing Lee.

“As Australians move more fluidly between work, study, travel, and entertainment, people want technology that fits naturally into their daily routines,” said Chris Lau, Managing Director at LASER.

LASER, which has operated in Australia for four decades, said the range is aimed at delivering affordable technology at a time when households are under pressure from rising living costs.
