A Russian law firm has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple on behalf of its users, seeking A$1.81 million in damages after the tech giant withdrawn its payment service from the region.
Law firm Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners filed the papers with a Moscow court, claiming Apple violated Russian consumers’ rights by pausing its Apple Pay service from March 1.
“Our lawsuit’s claims are directed firstly at the parent company and secondly at its subsidiary units,” Senior Partner Konstantin Lukoyanov said in a statement.
It wants Apple to resume services for Russian users, and pay 90 million rubles for “moral damage.”
Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners have also filed a similar suit against Netflix.
