Ruark Unveils High-Fashion MRX Bluetooth Connected Speaker

British Hi-Fi fashionista Ruark Audio has released its first connected wireless speaker. The MRx is a small footprint wireless speaker with expansive connectivity. The system has integrated Bluetooth with aptX, network connectivity, a USB media reader and a 3.5mm stereo jack for auxiliary devices like an Amazon Dot or Chromecast Audio.

The MRx can also form part of a multiroom network with Ruark’s ongoing R2 and R7 music systems.

The speaker features new, Ruark-developed full-range 75mm speaker units, based on the driver lightweight cone and coil technology from its MR1 speaker. The drivers are mounted as a stereo pair, and powered by a two channel Class A-B amplifier. DSP is used to widen the stereo soundstage.

From a cosmetic point of view, the MRx is class leading. The brand has an enviable reputation for industrial design, reflected here with its clean, curved wood and fabric cabinet and iconic multi-function dial.

For control Ruark has a dedicated app (for iOS and Android) called ‘Link’. This allows users full control of all MRx functions, and relays source material. Link also allows users to manage groups when two or more MRx units are being used as part of a multi-oom system. The control app offers users Spotify, Deezer and Tidal, with Amazon Music en route.

The MRx will be available from May.
