REVIEW: EFM Atlanta Earbuds – Built For Comfort And Ease

EFM have largely dealt in portable and wireless chargers, Bluetooth speakers, and phone cases, so I was interested to see how the Australian company’s TWS Atlanta Earbuds perform, especially when sitting at a rather awkward $150 price point: too expensive to battle in the lower end of the market, yet likely to be overlooked by audiophiles looking to capture every audio nuance while sitting on the bus to work.

The verdict is overwhelmingly good.

Being a tech reviewer, I have multiple pairs of earbuds lying around my house, and the pair I usually use at given moment ends up being based on proximity to my person, and amount of battery charge. But the EFM Atlanta buds were the first pair I found myself actively favouring. When placed in competition with buds that retail for double the price, the Atlanta Earbuds come up trumps every time.

For one, they are the most comfortable pair of buds I’ve ever worn, to the point where I often forgot I was wearing them until I tried to talk to someone and the environmental noise cancelling technology reminded me.

Soundwise, I cannot fault these at all.

Each earbud has two 8mm drivers, and mids are clear, highs don’t distort, and the bass rumbles nicely without turning into sludge. They are also a dream to pair; initially then anytime you need to swap them out, grab them out of your bags, or quickly charge. This isn’t as common as it should be: a lot of brand really struggle with the pairing aspect – surely something that should have corrected by now. These earbuds also come with intuitive controls that straddle to line between being far too responsive, and needing to thump them to pause the music.

The Atlanta buds are designed for gaming, which means they have low latency, and dual drivers. But, realistically, these are a perfect go-to pair of buds for everyday use. If that involves hours of gaming, all power to you.

The 4.5 hours of playback time is a little on the low side, but with 25 hours contained in the slim-design case, this isn’t a huge issue. They also charge quickly. For a comfy, great-sounding pair of $149 wireless earbuds, a slightly shorter battery life is about the closest to a down side I can find.
