Price Of iPhone 6S Recall Revealed
Following a series of complaints about iPhone 6s smartphones unexpectedly shutting down, Apple have established an online verification tool for users to check if their iPhone 6s is affected and launched an in-store battery replacement program late last month for iPhone 6s devices manufactured between September and October 2015.
Light has now been cast on the exact cost of that initiative, with the United Arab Emirates publication Khaleej Times reporting that Apple now could lose as much as $7 million.
The UAE Ministry of Economy says approximately 88,700 Apple iPhone 6s devices were recalled.
It is not known how many total units are affected globally, though Apple insists that it is a “very small number” as it only “affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015.”
In comparison, Samsung’s recall of the Galaxy Note 7 in 2016 was estimated to have cost the company $17 billion.
ChannelNews has reached out to Apple to clarify the status of local recall efforts.
