After months of speculation and a slow-building revival, Pebble, the once-iconic smartwatch brand, is officially back.

Its companion app has returned to both the Apple App Store and Google Play, giving old devices new life and supporting the brand’s latest watches.

Co-founder Eric Migicovsky, who first launched Pebble in 2012, announced the app’s relaunch on X, confirming it works with every Pebble device ever made.

Users now have access to more than 2,000 apps and over 10,000 watch faces, many preserved from the original ecosystem by the Rebble Alliance, while others are newly developed for modern devices.

The comeback has been a long time coming.

Earlier this year, Migicovsky reflected on Pebble’s original closure in 2016, citing the challenges of sustaining a profitable business despite pioneering the smartwatch market.

By March, he revealed two new devices under Core Devices LLC, designed to continue Pebble’s legacy of long battery life, always-on e-paper displays and simple, hackable software.

This relaunch marks a significant step in Pebble’s revival.

After Fitbit acquired the company nearly a decade ago, official app and device support ended in 2018, leaving enthusiasts reliant on community-built solutions.

Now, users can enjoy stable Bluetooth connections, notifications, firmware updates and an upgraded experience on both older and newer hardware. Older watch faces can also be optionally upscaled to fit larger screens.

Alongside the app, Pebble has reintroduced two smartwatches: the Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2.

Early production has already shipped some units, with lightweight designs, always-on displays and multi-day battery life – traits that originally set Pebble apart in a market dominated by Apple and Samsung.

For many, the app’s return isn’t just nostalgic. It provides seamless access to apps, watch faces, and updates without sideloading workarounds, making older devices feel like new again.

Migicovsky describes it as “the connective tissue that makes a beloved gadget feel like it’s finally living again.”
