LG’s New 11.6-inch Android ‘Tab Book’ Launches In Korea
Days after launching its new 10.1-inch LG Android G Tab in Australia, LG has announced a brand new 11.6-inch “LG Tab Book 11” in Korea, packed with an Intel Core i5 processor and PC-like specs.
However, despite this new tablet coming what looks like an inbuilt keyboard, LG is not releasing Windows on the tablet but Android “JellyBean” 4.2 instead – which isn’t the latest Android “KitKat” version 4.4.2.
The specs include a 4th-gen Haswell Intel Core i5 processor, an 11.6-inch screen, 4GB RAM, a 128GB SSD, microSD card reader, two USB 3.0 ports and HDMI, with a thickness of 16.7mm and a weight of 1.05kg, all of which would run Windows nicely and should run Android like a rocket.
The 11.6-inch screen is an IPS LCD with 1920×1080 Full HD resolution with a wide angle view, with a “blue light” reduction mode for lesser eye fatigue, especially when reading at night.
Given the fact that Korean and Japanese companies often launch products that are either dedicated to their home country markets first, there’s no word on when the LG Tab Book 11 will arrive in Australia and other western markets, or whether it will see product updates before being unleashed into the rest of the world.
We’re also yet to hear whether end-users will try “jailbreaking” or “rooting” the tablet to load Windows onto it instead, or try getting a “dual boot” scenario in play, allowing users to run Android or Windows as they desire, but we’re sure they’ll try.
