Nothing Rolls Out Update With Glyph Live Updates And AI Photo Tools
Nothing has begun releasing a new software update for its Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro, adding a mix of visual features and practical tools aimed at improving everyday use.
One of the key additions builds on Android 16’s Live Updates system, with supported apps now able to display real-time progress through the company’s Glyph Bar interface. Information can appear across the always-on display, lock screen, notifications and status bar, giving users quick updates without needing to open apps.
The update also introduces a new Relaxation Hub, which focuses on simple wellbeing tools. It includes Breathing Break widgets that offer different modes such as Focus, Relax and Calm, each paired with distinct haptic feedback patterns.
Nothing has also adjusted how apps are surfaced on the device. The Essential Apps drawer now includes recommendations, with the option to add suggested apps directly to the home screen for quicker access.

Customisation has been expanded on the lock screen, with a redesigned clock style inspired by an earlier model. Users can adjust clock size, alignment and visual effects, including a depth effect that changes how elements appear on screen.
In the camera and media experience, the Gallery app gains an AI-powered editing tool. The feature can automatically identify and remove unwanted objects from photos, while also allowing manual selection for more precise edits. Processing is handled directly on the device.
The update also includes the March Android security patch and is currently being distributed to Phone (4a) models, with support for older Nothing devices expected to follow later.
The Nothing Phone (4a) is already available in several markets, while the Phone (4a) Pro is due to reach stores shortly.
