BenQ’s 28-Inch 4K+ Monitor Helps Reduce Eye Strain Great For Programmers
BenQ’s developer-focused monitor, the RD280UG, aims to improve productivity by reducing eye strain during long coding sessions.
The monitor, priced at A$1,299, features a 28-inch display with a 4K+ resolution (3840 x 2560) and a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is a notable shift from the standard widescreen format.
This taller display allows users to view more vertical content, making it particularly useful for working with long blocks of code or documents.
A 120Hz refresh rate is also onboard, offering smoother scrolling through codebases and development environments – a feature more commonly associated with gaming monitors but increasingly relevant for productivity use cases.

To address visual comfort, BenQ has equipped the monitor with a Nano Matte panel designed to minimise glare and reflections across different lighting conditions. The monitor also includes dedicated coding modes that optimise contrast and readability depending on whether users prefer dark or light themes.
Additional eye-care features include Paper Colour Mode for a softer, paper-like viewing experience, MoonHalo bias lighting to improve ambient illumination, and Night Hours Protection to reduce strain during late-night work sessions.
The RD280UG also supports flexible ergonomics, including height adjustment, rotation and auto pivot, and is compatible with macOS, Windows and Linux systems. A dedicated coding hotkey allows quick access to display settings without interrupting workflow.
