Nothing has begun rolling out new software updates for its CMF Phone 1 and Phone (3a) series, delivering improved widget functionality, camera stability fixes and the latest August 2025 security patch.

For the CMF Phone 1, the new update introduces a recurring option for the Countdown widget, adds new shapes, and expands sticker support for shared widgets.

Pedometer and Screentime widgets can now also be shared. Camera improvements include default gallery selection for previews and enhanced stability, while Bluetooth call issues on Telegram with some watches and earbuds have been addressed.

Font display problems affecting Instagram and other apps have also been resolved.

Meanwhile, for the Nothing Phone (3a) series, changes include a redesigned VoNR icon, fixes for Inter font display in third-party apps, and resolution of rare Gallery video playback errors.

Glyph-related glitches, including lights activating incorrectly and Flip to Glyph failures, have been corrected. Users will also notice smoother system performance and fixes for USB headphone freezes and electrical noise from certain chargers.

Both updates include the latest Android security patch and general performance enhancements, though Nothing warns that phones may temporarily heat up or consume more power during installation. Firmware rollouts are staggered, so availability may vary.

The new Nothing Phone 3, launched in July, has been experiencing some user complaints, including overheating during heavy use, occasional touchscreen lag, and inconsistent battery drain.

Looking ahead, Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, is expected this autumn. The Phone 3 will be the first device to receive it, bringing AI-powered features, smarter UI suggestions, and enhanced interactivity through the Glyph Matrix API.
