Nokia’s repairable 5G smartphone is coming to Australia next month, in a stunning shade of deep purple.
The Nokia G42 is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ 5G chip, and sports a 6.56” HD display, and a 50MP camera.
It is available with a range of storage and memory configurations, from 6GB to 128 GB, and boasts a three-day battery life. The Nokia G42 starts at $449, and will be available late July.
The easy ability to replace cracked screens, bent charging ports, and old batteries is an appealing notion, with official parts and step-by-step guides available through iFixit.
Displays will retail for $89.99, batteries at $49.99, and charging port replacements at $42.99.
“I’m thrilled to see how our partnership with HMD Global is turning the tide in favour of self-repairs,” said Kyle Wiens, CEO, iFixit.
“This is not just about providing parts; it’s about seeding the DIY ethos among consumers and signalling that the era of self-service repairs is truly upon us.”
