Motorola Edge 50 Neo Begins Receiving Android 16 After Extended Beta Testing
Motorola has started rolling out the stable Android 16 update for the Edge 50 Neo, following more than two months of testing through its beta programme.
Although the company has not formally announced the release, reports indicate that users in several European markets have already begun receiving the update. The software arrives with firmware version W1UI36H.39-17 and has a download size of approximately 2.14GB.
The update is currently appearing in countries including Italy, Poland, Spain and Romania, with a wider rollout expected to follow in other regions such as India in the near future.
Users who have not yet received a notification can manually check for the update through the system settings menu. As with most staged rollouts, availability may vary and could take time to reach all devices.
The Edge 50 Neo is part of Motorola’s longer-term software support strategy. The device launched with Android 14 and is scheduled to receive up to five operating system upgrades along with five years of security updates, which should take it through to Android 19.

Android 16 does not introduce major design changes, but it includes several refinements aimed at improving everyday usability. One of the additions is a notification management feature that reduces the frequency of alerts from apps that send repeated notifications within a short period.
The update also expands personalisation options by allowing users to create customised modes alongside existing settings such as Do Not Disturb, Bedtime and Driving. Another improvement enables easier hotspot connections between devices linked to the same Google account, removing the need to manually enter a password.
Additional updates include enhancements for hearing aid compatibility, stronger protection against harmful applications and general performance improvements.
While the changes are more incremental than transformative, the update continues Motorola’s effort to deliver longer software support and a more refined user experience across its devices.
