Monitor Audio Introduces Redesigned Silver Series 8G Speaker Range
Monitor Audio has given one of its most popular speaker families a major overhaul, unveiling the Silver Series 8G with seven models designed to cover everything from traditional stereo listening to large-scale Dolby Atmos home cinema systems.
Rather than making minor adjustments to the outgoing generation, the British audio manufacturer has revised several key elements of the Silver platform. Changes include updated drivers, a reworked tweeter, improved cabinet construction and a new bass port system.
The expanded range can be configured for relatively compact 5.1 surround sound installations or used as the foundation for more elaborate 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos systems.
Central to the eighth-generation speakers is the latest evolution of Monitor Audio’s Ceramic-Coated Aluminium Magnesium, or C-CAM, driver technology.
The drivers now incorporate RST III cone geometry, which has been developed to increase rigidity while controlling unwanted resonances. Monitor Audio says the changes are intended to provide greater precision and improved control across the speakers’ operating frequencies.
High-frequency reproduction has also received attention through a redesigned C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter.
The latest tweeter incorporates a vented rear chamber, a newly developed shorting ring and Monitor Audio’s UD Waveguide II. Together, these components are designed to improve treble clarity while providing more consistent sound dispersion across a listening area.

Bass performance is another major focus of the redesign. The Silver Series 8G introduces Silent Flow port technology, with Monitor Audio taking inspiration from the feather structure of owls when developing the system.
The port uses a larger diameter and revised flare geometry to manage the movement of air through the cabinet more effectively. By reducing turbulence, Monitor Audio says the design can produce deeper and cleaner low-frequency reproduction.
Changes extend to the internal construction of the cabinets. Through-Bolt Driver Bracing connects the drive units directly to the rear of the enclosure, increasing structural rigidity while helping to reduce unwanted cabinet movement.
Monitor Audio has also introduced new outrigger feet influenced by the company’s premium Platinum Series 3G speakers.
The wider stance is designed to improve stability, while adjustable levelling allows the speakers to be positioned correctly on uneven surfaces. Owners with hard flooring can use integrated rubber feet instead of traditional spikes.
Seven models make up the complete Silver Series 8G family.
The Silver 500 8G and Silver 300 8G cater for buyers looking for floorstanding speakers, while the Silver 100 8G and more compact Silver 50 8G provide standmount alternatives.
Home cinema installations are supported by the Silver Centre 8G, Silver On-Wall 8G and Silver AMS 8G, with the latter designed to add height channels to immersive surround sound configurations.
Monitor Audio is offering the new generation in three finishes, giving buyers a choice of High Gloss Black, Satin White or European Walnut.
Pricing and detailed regional availability were not included in the announcement, but the seven-model line-up represents a substantial redesign of the Silver family, with Monitor Audio concentrating its upgrades on driver control, high-frequency dispersion, bass airflow and cabinet stability.
