Microsoft Ditch Plans For Ad-Filled Xbox Homescreen

Microsoft had plans to bring in a refreshed Xbox homescreen, but beta tester complaints about the crowded look and amount of ads have caused them to double back.

The new homescreen was in front of beta testers before a public rollout, but is now entirely removed from beta software.

“We heard from you that the changes to the top of Home did not leave enough space for you to enjoy your backgrounds and that it felt crowded,” says Ivy Krislov, Senior Product Manager Lead, Xbox experiences.

“We’re working to balance the experience, accessibility, function, and the needs of our community and bring you a great and refreshed Home experience.”

After all, we play games to escape.
