Metcash “Not” Moving Into CE or Appliances Company Execs Claim

Senior Metcash executives claim that they have no major plans to enter the consumer electronics and appliance market despite admitting that they have hired buyers with those skills from Big W and Aldi.

Company executives told ChannelNews that while they have hired buyers from competing retailers, their strategy is still focused around food.

A spoksperson said “Consumer Electronics is not part, nor will it be part of our strategy”.

They also claim that they are “not” paying over the odds for buyers.

Yesterday we reported that the Company had hired a former Big W CE Buyer and a buyer from Aldi, this has not been denied.

“Our strategy at this stage does not include an expansion of consumer electronics or appliances” a company executive said.
