LG Electronics has issued a recall of four 86″ TVs due to the poor design of the stand legs that hold the large TV, resulting in the possibility of the sets toppling over.
LG, who has several 86″ TVs on sale at Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi, has at this point not said whether the Australian models are affected by the recall.
Apparently, several of the recalled TVs have become unstable in a number of incidents, leading to tip-overs. The good news is that no-one has been hurt when the LG TVs have tipped over.
At this stage, there are at least 212 known cases.
We do know that the recalled LG Electronics 86″ TVs are being sold on Amazon, and weigh around 45 kilos.
We also know that several markets are affected by the recall.
More than 52,000 of these televisions have been sold at major retailers between March 2022 through September 2022.
We have asked Tony Brown Head Of Consumer TV’s at LG Australia for a response.
