Lenovo could be preparing a new affordable laptop range aimed squarely at buyers considering Apple’s MacBook Neo, with a leak revealing an IdeaPad Vibe in a surprisingly broad selection of colours.

Images obtained by Windows Latest reportedly show the unannounced Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe, which is expected to be offered with a choice of Qualcomm Snapdragon or AMD hardware. While many of its technical details remain unknown, Lenovo appears to be putting considerable emphasis on design, connectivity and affordability.

The leaked laptops appear in seven finishes, including pink, yellow, orange-brown, green, navy blue, silver and mint teal. Lenovo’s logo on the lid is colour-matched to each version, although the keyboard area maintains the same dark grey appearance across the range.

Offering so many finishes could help Lenovo distinguish the IdeaPad Vibe from the typically conservative designs found across the budget Windows laptop market. It also puts the machine in similar territory to Apple’s MacBook Neo, which uses bright colour options to appeal to customers looking for something beyond traditional silver or grey hardware.

Connectivity could be another major advantage for Lenovo. According to the leaked images, the IdeaPad Vibe has two USB-A connections alongside two USB-C ports. HDMI, a headphone connection and a microSD card slot also appear to be included.

That selection would give users considerably more flexibility without relying on adapters or hubs. Apple’s MacBook Neo has a much simpler arrangement consisting of two USB-C ports and a headphone connection.

Lenovo has yet to reveal the processor specifications, memory configurations or other important hardware details. However, both Snapdragon-powered and AMD-powered versions are reportedly being developed, potentially giving buyers a choice between different performance and efficiency characteristics.

Qualcomm has already demonstrated its ambitions at the cheaper end of the Windows PC market with the Snapdragon C. The processor was introduced for affordable laptops starting at approximately A$460 based on its US$300 target price, although actual Australian retail prices will depend on individual manufacturers.

Lenovo’s apparent move comes as competition in the lower-cost laptop category continues to intensify. Apple’s MacBook Neo originally arrived at US$599, equivalent to roughly A$920, before its US price reportedly increased by another US$100, or approximately A$154.

Rising memory prices are creating challenges across the PC industry, with budget Windows machines particularly sensitive to higher component costs. Many affordable laptops continue to rely on 8GB of RAM at a time when Windows 11 is handling an increasing number of AI functions and background tasks.

Microsoft has acknowledged the importance of reducing Windows’ memory requirements, while chipmakers including Qualcomm and Intel are developing processors intended to make lower-priced computers more capable.

The IdeaPad Vibe could therefore arrive at an opportune time for Lenovo. A combination of colourful designs, a generous collection of ports and Snapdragon or AMD processor options could make it an appealing alternative for buyers who want an affordable laptop without moving to macOS.

Pricing, Australian availability and complete specifications have not yet been announced. Until Lenovo officially reveals the IdeaPad Vibe, it remains unclear exactly how aggressively the company intends to position it against the MacBook Neo and other affordable laptops.
