Foxtel Looks To Bolster Presto With No Data Limit
The move sees Foxtel looking to sweeten the deal with its broadband packages, the reaction to which was hardly overwhelming, while bolstering its content service in an increasingly competitive market.
Presto TV, a Foxtel and Seven West Media joint venture, launched last month, with Stan, the Nine Entertainment Co. and Fairfax Media joint venture subscription video-on-demand service, following shortly after.
Presto TV and Presto Movies can each be accessed at $9.99 a month, while both services can be bundled together at $14.99 per month; Stan, which streams both TV and movies, is priced at $10 a month.
Netflix, which is expected to cost $10 a month, could now launch in the local market in early March.
Both Stan and Presto announced a number of content deals in the lead-up to their respective launches, while it was revealed this week that Netflix has struck a deal with The Walt Disney Company for Australian rights.
Presto TV has entered content deals with HBO and Showtime, offering shows including HBO’s The Sopranos, Entourage, The Wire, True Blood, and Boardwalk Empire, along with Showtime’s Dexter, The Borgias, Californication, and Deadwood.
