New JBL Boombox 4 To Be Unveiled At IFA Berlin
The JBL Boombox 4 appears to already be available in China, despite its official unveiling scheduled for IFA Berlin this September.
Priced at around A$860 in China, the current JBL Boombox 3 is listed at $699 on JB Hi-Fi.
The new rugged outdoor JBL Boombox 4 is available in black, blue, and a camouflage finish. It sports a redesigned body that’s 12% lighter than the Boombox 3 and fitted with an new integrated carry handle.
It also packs a 7-driver array – dual 5-inch woofers, dual 0.75-inch tweeters, and three passive radiators – delivering up to 210W RMS when plugged in and 180W on battery.
A new AI Sound Boost algorithm dynamically adjusts output in real time for a more balanced, immersive sound. A two-level Bass Boost mode also lets users add extra low-end punch at the touch of a button.
Connectivity gets a bump with Bluetooth 5.4 and Auracast, enabling multi-speaker pairing with the latest JBL models.

There’s also USB-C lossless audio playback via a high-quality DAC, plus simultaneous connection to two devices for easy source switching. The 99Wh battery offers up to 28 hours of playtime, extendable to 34 hours with Playtime Boost, and doubles as a 30W power bank.
Rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, the Boombox 4 is built for all-weather use. JBL is also introducing two variants – the Boombox 4T, a stripped-down version focused purely on Bluetooth playback, and the Boombox 4C, a higher-end Wi-Fi model with extended battery life and extra connectivity.
JBL’s new flagship aims to outdo rivals such as the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 and Soundcore’s upcoming Boom series with more power, deeper bass (down to 37Hz) and improved dynamic range.
However, the removal of the 3.5mm audio input may disappoint wired audio enthusiasts.
