JB HiFi Awarded Excellence For Workplace Generosity

JB Hi-Fi has been ranked Australia’s best company for promoting charitable generosity among its staff, following recognition at this year’s Workplace Giving Excellence Awards.

Hosted by The Australian Charities Fund (ACF), JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were two of six organisations to receive gold accolades for their successful workplace giving programs.

The Workplace Giving Awards acknowledges organisations who offer programs to support the charitable contributions of their employees, and seek to initiate positive change in the community.

JB Hi-Fi was crowned with the ‘Best Overall Program’, in addition to an award for the ‘Most Innovative Charity/Employee Partnership’ for its collaboration with Redkite and The Song Room.

The Good Guys received an award for ‘Best Launch or Refresh’ by a large employer.

JB Hi-Fi, Chief Executive Officer, Richard Murray, affirms the retailer’s passion for their workplace giving program, and encourages other organisations to develop their own:

“Workplace Giving has become an integral part of the Group’s culture and I would encourage other business leaders to embrace this form of giving. Doing so not only enables your teams to give to charity in the most cost-effective way, but also supports positive staff engagement”

“I’m incredibly proud of The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi teams. To receive Gold Awards, across a number of categories, is testament to the generosity, support and creativity of our team members”

“Our workplace giving programs are something we all take great pride in and it is amazing to see the incredible work of our charity partners”.

Now in their second year, the Workplace Giving Awards seek to encourage other organisations to follow suit, by demonstrating that ‘workplace giving’ is the most effective form of charitable donations derived from working Australians.

The ACF hopes to reach its goal of having one million Australian workers donating to charity, directly from their pay, by 2020. The organisation estimates that thie will contribute about $250 million annually from Australian employees to charities.

It is the second time JB Hi-Fi has received the ‘Best Overall Program’ award, following their win last year.

Last year, Mr Murray affirmed that 73% his staff donated to a charity of their choice, which was also matched by JB Hi-Fi.

Following the acquisition of The Good Guys, Murray informed media last year that he also hopes to also weave workplace giving there.
