JB Hi Fi To Sell New Philips TV Range With HDR + HDR Upscaling Capability

JB Hi Fi will later this year sell a brand new range of premium Philips TVs that will include several models that are High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible the models will also include a HDR Upscaler so that all content viewed with deliver premium HDR display capability.

Highlights of the new range which is distributed by Tempo, include the 7601 series which features direct dimmable 2D micro-dimming technology previously only found on the flagship 9000 range and the 8901 AmbiLux TV featuring Ambilight Projection with its nine tiny, rear mounted pico-projectors that extend the on-screen image onto the wall behind the TV for a unique immersive experience.

Philips has also brought back Ambilux with the 8901 series. It involves LEDs on the edges of the TV. They display the screen’s colours on your wall, making the TV’s image appear larger or like a bleeding image. The new Ambilight Projection uses nine rear projectors.

A new Philips FHD TV range has also been announced including the 5211 series TVs, the first all-in-one solution combining TV, monitor and Bluetooth speaker functionality.

The 5211 integrates a unique Bluetooth speaker into the stand of a superb Full HD TV.

The new range includes sizes going from 24-inches to 75-inches and include sFull HD TVs as well as Ultra HD 4K sets.

The 4K TVs run the latest version of Android TV OS.

HDR-compatible TVs with HDR Plus offer a peak brightness of 400 nits, while HDR Premium offers a full 700 nits. There’s also HDR upscaling.

HDR upscaling boosts colour, brightness, and contrast – allowing the content to be viewed in HDR.
