Microsoft To Release iPad Version Of Office
Nadella, who replaced longtime CEO Steve Ballmer earlier this year, will address media and industry executives in San Francisco on that date, according to an invitation to reporters. It will be his first major public appearance. Microsoft said in an invitation that Nadella will discuss “news related to the intersection of cloud and mobile” but declined to comment on the location or other specifics of his appearance.
However it seems almost certain that his announcement will be a major feature of the annual Macworld expo, which opens in San Francisco on March 27.
Reuters notes that investors for years have been urging Microsoft to adapt Office for mobile devices from Apple and Google, rather than shackling it to Windows as PC sales decline.
In another signal that its policy has changed, Microsoft on Monday said it would make its note-taking software OneNote, available on Mac, a move interpreted as a shot against rival note-taking app Evernote, which runs on both Apple and Android devices.
