Hong Kong Electronics Fairs Target AI, Robotics and Silver Tech
For Australian distributors the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) is a key show and this year there weill be innovations in AI, robotics, and age-tech that could reshape retail strategies for international buyers.
Now in its 45th year, EFAE has established itself as a cornerstone for global sourcing with this years show running between October 13-16, 2025,
Last year’s shows attracted 3,200 exhibitors from 19 countries and 60,000 buyers from 136 markets, cementing their status as essential events for consumer electronics retailers, distributors, and manufacturers.
The 2025 fairs will focus on sectors with significant market potential:
- AI & Robotics: A dedicated RoboPark will feature brands like Ti5robot and PADBOT, with live demonstrations showcasing automation applications in retail, logistics, and manufacturing. This zone addresses the growing demand for automated solutions across industries.
- Digital Entertainment: The category spans from immersive VR accessories to portable outdoor gadgets, offering retailers opportunities to diversify their product mix as consumer entertainment habits evolve.
- Silver Economy: Technology designed for aging populations, including wellness and health products, targets one of the fastest-growing consumer segments globally.
“The electronics industry is evolving at a pace we’ve never seen before,” said Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director of HKTDC.
“These fairs provide a full picture of the ecosystem, from breakthrough robotics to the components behind them, creating opportunities for business and collaboration.”
Key exhibition areas designed to streamline product discovery include:
- Hall of Fame: Featuring established global brands alongside RISE Avenue, which spotlights emerging players in gaming and robotics
- Adventure Hub: Hands-on demonstrations of VR sports, AR platforms, and metaverse experiences aimed at inspiring experiential retail strategies
- Tech Hall: IoT and smart living solutions, plus the Tech Trend Symposium and Startup Zone connecting attendees with emerging technologies and early-stage partners

Co-organised with MMI Asia Pte Ltd, electronicAsia runs concurrently, focusing on components, parts, and manufacturing solutions.
This dual-show format creates a complete electronics marketplace, allowing buyers to source both finished products and components in one location.
For Australian and international retailers, the fairs offer more than routine sourcing:
- Global Networking: Direct access to suppliers and brands launching in Asia before entering Western markets provides first-mover advantages.
- Category Expansion: Exposure to growth areas like robotics, IoT, and senior wellness technology helps retailers identify new revenue streams.
- Supply Chain Intelligence: Understanding manufacturing trends and sourcing opportunities firsthand enables more strategic procurement decisions.
“Hong Kong remains one of the best places to spot the next big thing,” noted Emily Chen, a New York-based distributor who attended last year.
“We’ve formed partnerships here that helped us stay ahead in home automation and wellness tech.”
The focus on AI, robotics, and silver economy technologies reflects broader industry shifts.
With the global robotics market expected to reach $260 billion by 2030 and the 65+ demographic representing the fastest-growing consumer segment in developed nations, the fairs’ strategic priorities align with long-term market opportunities.
For Australian businesses, where the electronics retail market exceeds $10 billion annually, access to Asian suppliers at competitive prices remains crucial for maintaining margins in a highly competitive environment.
“Retailers who attend aren’t just browsing,” Chau added.
“They’re building strategies and partnerships that will shape their businesses for years to come.”
The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia provide Western companies with an opportunity to discover innovations, strengthen supply chain connections, and prepare for emerging consumer technology trends before they reach mainstream markets.
