HMD Global Doubles Down On Digital Wellbeing With Pulse 2 Series
While most smartphone makers are keen to keep users glued to their screens, HMD provides tools to help people switch off.
The company’s ‘Digital Detox’ mode, which was already available in earlier HMD and Nokia-branded models, limits app notifications and allows users to set timers for phone use or put soft and hard locks on their device.
With today’s launch of the Pulse 2 series, HMD is making clear this isn’t a one-off gimmick but a core part of its philosophy.
By selling devices that can help support healthier habits rather than fuelling constant scrolling, HMD is carving out a distinctive niche in a market otherwise addicted to engagement metrics.
The new range will include three devices: the Pulse 2, Pulse 2 Plus, and Pulse 2 Pro. All run Android 15 and carry Unisoc chipsets.

Sometimes, you need to put your phone away for a while
The base Pulse 2 offers a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS LCD at 90Hz, 4GB RAM and 64/128 GB storage, plus a 13MP dual rear camera and 8MP selfie.
The Pulse 2 Plus steps things up with 6GB RAM and a 50MP main camera, while retaining the same processor and screen as the base model.
At the top of the range, the Pulse 2 Pro adds a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, 6–8GB RAM, up to 256 GB storage, and better picture quality thanks to a triple-lens rear (50 MP main, macro, depth) and a 50 MP selfie shooter. It also supports 20W fast charging.
Together, the three handsets combine modern Android performance with HMD’s unusual commitment to encouraging its consumers to touch grass.
For buyers weary of endless pings and pop-ups, the new Pulse 2 series offers an affordable chance to stay connected without being endlessly distracted.
