Serious questions are being asked of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commissions web site Product Safety Australia with their latest recall of a Blendjet blender raising serious questions about the announcement.

Blendjet blenders are extremely popular and late last year there was a recall of one of their products that came with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the device was sold in various colours.

The only problem is that the ACCC has only just got around to recalling the problem blender, with new models having been in stores for the past six months, according to Melbourne based distributor Aquipa.

The Product Safety Australia recall claims the metal blades of the old model may break when the blender was is in use.

Resulting in the former model overheating and catching fire when charging.

The numbers in the range were described as being affected: 5201000000 to 5542999999.

Chris Scott General Manager at Aquipa told ChannelNews “Blendjet was recalled last year at the end of December. New stock has been back in stores for six months”.

The ACCC has not explained why only now they are making an announcement re the popular kitchen product.

Also late is Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) who claim that they are currently assessing a proposed remedy despite new models being on sale.

Blendjet products are sold at The Good Guys, Kitchen Warehouse, Mini-Max, Camera Electronic Wanderlust, Myer, Bi Rite, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Campus and Co, CostCo.
