When Gary McGregor suddenly and out of the blue quit the role of Vice President of Mobile at Samsung, questions were raised as to why, and why so suddenly especially as he was seen as having delivered growth for the South Korean Company.

Now we can reveal why.

According to sources McGregor has taken off to arch rival Apple where he is believed to have taken on a senior sales role selling iPhones as opposed to Samsung devices.

During the past six months the former senior Samsung executive has been on a sabbatical on a move that allowed him to work on renovating his Northern Beaches home.

A visit to LinkedIn reveals that McGregor still lists himself as a Vice President at Samsung.

What’s not known is who is being replaced at Apple and how he will go at “The girls club” with Apple employing more women in senior roles than men.

Prior to joining Samsung, he was sales director at the struggling Taiwanese mobile Company HTC

At Samsung he was replaced by Eric Chou the former Director of Product Marketing at Samsung’s mobile division.
