Samsung-owned Harman has announced the appointment of MadisonAV as the exclusive distributor for its professional solutions portfolio in Australia, effective August 1, 2025. This strategic move follows Harman’s recent acquisition of Sound United—now operating as Masimo Consumer—with plans to merge the two entities pending regulatory approval.

Under the new arrangement, MadisonAV will manage the distribution of Harman’s professional audio and video control products across Australia. Ambertech currently oversees the Harman Luxury AV line, though market traction appears limited. ChannelNews understands that multiple distributors have expressed interest in assuming broader responsibilities for Harman’s business locally.

Over the past 18 months, Harman Professional has ramped up investment in next-gen software platforms, including JBL Venue Synthesis (a 3D acoustic simulation tool) and FLUX::, designed to support immersive experiences in content creation, live events, post-production, and installed sound.
The company is also expanding its install portfolio with platforms such as AMX MUSE, BSS Soundweb OMNI, the AVX software suite, and refreshed iterations of its JBL Control Contractor range.

“Our professional portfolio is being reshaped by significant R&D investments in both hardware and software,” said Amar Subash, Vice President and General Manager, Harman Professional APAC. “Consolidating our distribution enables us to maximise the impact of these innovations, and we’re confident MadisonAV is the right partner to take us forward.”

To deepen customer engagement and channel support, MadisonAV is launching a national Harman Experience Centre. The purpose-built facility will showcase Harman’s audio solutions—from portable JBL EON, PRX, and IRX PA systems to the SRX900 and flagship JBL VTX line arrays—in an acoustically treated environment. It will also include a FLUX:: immersive audio suite, allowing hands-on experience with advanced spatial audio and real-time mixing workflows. The centre will serve as a hub for demos, training, system comparisons, and application-specific learning for resellers, integrators, consultants, and end users.

“We’re proud to expand our partnership with Harman and increase our value to the Australian market,” said Ken Kyle, CEO of MadisonAV. “With five years of strong collaboration behind us, we’re excited to offer the full Harman Professional range, supported by our expert team, national repair services, and dedicated retail specialists.”

Harman also recognised the long-standing efforts of outgoing distributor CMI Music & Audio, which initially represented AKG and eventually took on Harman’s full retail, line array, and tunnel solution portfolios.

“The CMI team has brought our technologies to a broad and diverse customer base,” said Subash. “We deeply appreciate their dedication and shared successes over the years.”

Fiona Brown, Managing Director of CMI Music & Audio said “Our partnership with Harman has been integral to our growth. While our companies now follow different strategic paths, we fully support the handover to MadisonAV and are grateful to Harman and our dealer network for the opportunity to represent such iconic brands.”

Harman, CMI, and MadisonAV are working closely to ensure a seamless transition. At the upcoming Integrate Show in Sydney, Harman Professional will debut new additions to its install range and deliver an immersive showcase powered by JBL Professional and FLUX:: Spat Revolution.
