Hail Didi! Chinese Open Bid To Overtake Uber Down Under
Watch out Uber Australia: China’s Didi Chuzing is looking to grab a significant percentage of the Australian ride-sharing market now dominated by Uber.
Didi has reportedly already conducted initial testing in Geelong and plans to begin offering services in Melbourne and then the rest of Australia.
It plans to lure new users with a 50 percent discount for the month of July as well as a $200 bonus for new drivers. It will also emphasise its claim to be the only ride-sharing app in Australia to offer 24/7 phone support for riders and drivers.
The Chinese company has had plenty of experience in the call-up taxi business, carrying about 30 million rides a day worldwide, which it claims is far more than the combined daily rides of all other ride-sharing companies.
