Government Signs Microsoft To Run Cloud Over 98 Agencies
The Morrison Government has signed a three-year agreement with Microsoft Australia in a bid to streamline cloud access for 98 federal agencies.
The new agreement, negotiated through the Digital Transformation Agency, makes Microsoft 365 available to all federal agencies and opens the door to accelerated adoption of Microsoft Azure and Dynamics 365.
The agreement is the first whole-of-government deal to conform to the Australian accessible procurement standard.
Microsoft said the impact for the company’s 10,000 local partners – the vast majority of them Australian businesses which between them employ 300,000 people – will be “significant”.
As part of the deal, Microsoft will work with the Government to up-skill public-sector personnel. More than 1400 subsidised Azure training places will be made available to the Australian Government.
