Google Play Store Has One Million Fewer Apps Than 2018

There are currently a million fewer apps available on the Google Play Store than there were four years ago, according to a new report from Trading Platforms.

The store has roughly 2.6 million apps, 28 per cent less than the 3.6 million on the platform in March, 2018.

As the below graph shows, there was a huge cleanup between June and September that year, with over half a million apps that violated Google terms and conditions removed from the store.

Since then, the company has employed both human workers and AI to control the flow of apps that don’t meet Google’s own policies.
