Google Cancel Pixel Fold In Face Of Samsung Dominance

Google has been heavily rumoured to be bringing its own foldable smartphone, known as the Pixel Fold, before the end of 2021.

Now, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Ross Young, says the device has now been cancelled, and is unlikely to appear at all.

Citing supply chain sources, Young says the phone won’t make an appearance this year, as rumoured, nor in the first half of 2022.

Young writes: “Our sources indicated that Google believed the product wouldn’t be as competitive as it needed to be. They likely figured that competing against Samsung in the US and Europe in a small niche market facing higher costs than their primary competitor, would stack the odds against this project.”
