Google AI Mode Gains Global Flight Search and Trip Planning Canvas Tool
Google has expanded its AI Mode features, rolling out Flight Deals beta globally and introducing Canvas, a new trip planning tool, while extending agent booking capabilities to more users.
The Flight Deals beta, an AI-powered search tool within Google Flights, is expanding globally.
The tool finds the best flight deals in response to natural-language prompts from users.
Google is expanding AI Mode’s agentic capabilities to more users across the US, enabling booking of restaurants, event tickets, and beauty or wellness appointments through conversational AI interactions.
AI Mode introduces Canvas, an organised workspace for users to build plans or projects.
The tool helps plan trips by allowing users to describe desired travel experiences, with AI suggesting destinations, hotels, and bookings within the Canvas environment.
Last week, Google added AI-powered shopping features, including agentic checkout that helps find and purchase items at specific prices.
Shoppers can have Google track item prices and authorise AI to purchase once the desired discount is reached.

Google continues deploying AI features across its product suite, including Google Photos, Google Messages, and Android.
The expanded AI Mode features position Google’s search and planning tools against travel booking platforms and AI assistants from competitors.
The agentic booking capabilities represent Google’s push toward AI systems that can complete transactions on users’ behalf, moving beyond information retrieval to action-taking.
Flight Deals and Canvas target travel planning, a lucrative market where Google competes with specialised travel platforms.
The natural-language interface aims to simplify complex booking processes that typically require navigating multiple websites and comparing options manually.
Australian users will access Flight Deals globally, though agentic booking capabilities for restaurants, events, and appointments remain US-only at this stage.
Google has not announced pricing for any premium features associated with AI Mode, which currently appears to be included with standard Google account access.
