Pay-TV provider, Foxtel, is reportedly exploring a re-brand of its its advertising sales business, MCN (Multi Channel Network), with shortlisted names including ‘Foxtel Media’ and ‘Foxtel Media Group.’
Reported by the Australian Financial Review, the re-brand follows several years of discussions, and seeks to reflect closer ties with Foxtel after the exit of Network 10 in January.
The move is tipped to clearly signify the organisation’s place outside News Corp’s portfolio, closely tied with Foxtel.
The news contradicts previous rumblings that News Corp would combine its ad sales division with Foxtel and Nova – achieving synergy across pay TV, radio, print and online.
The re-brand would likely rule out such a merger.
News Corp currently owns 65% of Foxtel, with the remainder owned by Telstra.
Foxtel Chief Executive, Patrick Delaney, is currently MCN’s Chairman.
