EXCLUSIVE: Michael Richardson To Spearhead Sharp Brand For Tempo

Michael Richardson the former Vice President of Samsung has been lured back into the consumer electronics and appliance industry with a senior role spearheading the expansion of the Sharp brand in Australia.

Richardson whose last role was as CEO of New Zealand carpet Company Bremworth, has re-joined Tempo who were recently appointed as a key partner of the Japanese brand, and are looking to launch several new categories in Australia including air conditioning and cooking as well as an expanded range of whitegoods in 2020.

In his new role Richardson will be responsible for the strategic direction of the Sharp brand with Tempo as well as the mix of new products being bought to market.

“This is an exiting brand that is well known in Australia and we believe that due to the close relationship between Sharp and Tempo we can significantly expand the brand and their products in Australia” said Richardson.

A 27 year veteran of the CE and appliance industry Richardson worked closely with Tempo across several brands before taking on the CEO role at Bremworth.

Currently Richardson is in discussions with several leading retailers who are set to range Sharp products in 2020.

A Tempo spokesperson said, “Sharp is a very important brand in our Company and what Michael Richards delivers is a vast amount of big brand experience, this expertise couple with his retail relationships will allow to grow the brand in Australia while introducing several new Sharp products to both the CE and appliance markets.”
