Anker’s eufy has launched a new video doorbell that takes a panoramic approach to keeping an eye on the front door. The Video Doorbell S4 combines a 180-degree field of view, AI-powered tracking and an unusual VR viewing mode, while offering local video storage without requiring a monthly subscription.

The S4 forms part of eufy’s new Edge 5.0 Yard Protection System and is priced at US$299.99 / A$430, including the eufy Chime 2. Shipping is expected to begin by the end of October 2026.

At the heart of the S4 is a 3K camera that captures video at 3072 x 3072 pixels using a 9MP square image. It supports HDR, records at up to 24fps and provides a 180-degree field of view both horizontally and vertically.

That wide coverage is designed to provide a floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall view of the area outside a home. The camera also offers up to 8x digital zoom, while a pair of spotlights help illuminate visitors and other activity at night.

Eufy is also using AI to make the large field of view more useful. Its OmniTrack AI can detect a person and automatically crop the panoramic footage to keep them centred in the frame as they move.

For motion detection, the S4 combines radar with two PIR sensors. Users can create custom detection zones within a 120-degree area extending up to eight metres from the doorbell. The system can distinguish between people, general motion, packages and recognised faces, while a warm welcome light automatically switches on as someone approaches.

One of the S4’s more unusual features is its VR viewing mode. When a visitor presses the doorbell, the notification appears as an incoming video call. Answering opens a full-screen view that allows users to move their phone or compatible headset to look around different parts of the camera’s panoramic feed. Two-way audio is also supported.

Unlike some eufy doorbells, the S4 is designed for wired installation and requires a 16–24V AC doorbell connection. It does include a 2,600mAh battery, but this is intended as backup power during outages rather than for normal wireless operation.

Recordings can be stored locally on the doorbell’s 4GB of internal storage without a subscription. Pairing the S4 with eufy’s HomeBase S380 expands its capabilities to include continuous 24/7 recording and additional AI recognition for people, vehicles, pets and packages.

The Video Doorbell S4 also integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home, although Apple Home support requires a HomeBase. Its VR viewing and OmniTrack AI features, meanwhile, are limited to the eufy app.
