Elon Musk Considers Charging For Twitter
Elon Musk might want Twitter to become a bastion of free speech, but ‘freedom’ and ‘free of charge’ are two very separate concepts.
Musk has publicly toyed with charging a “slight” free to corporations and governments planning to use the service.
“Ultimately, the downfall of the Freemasons was giving away their stonecutting services for nothing,” Musk first tweeted, before making it clear what the point of this history lesson was.
“Twitter will always be free for casual users, but maybe a slight cost for commercial/government users,” he followed up.
“Some revenue is better than none!”
This comes after the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Musk has been meeting with private equity firms, and informing them that he plans to re-list Twitter after as few as three years.
