Amazon Prime Day Australia Launching July 16th

Amazon has announced it’s launching the inaugural Australian ‘Prime Day’ on July 16th 12pm AEST. For 36 hours, Aussie Prime members can access massive discounts on consumer electronics, appliances, fashion, home-wares and more.

Following Amazon Australia’s arrival last year, this year’s Prime Day claims to offer the “most extensive suite of benefits” of any previous Prime launch.

“Prime members in Australia have access to the widest selection of Prime benefits at launch for any country ever,” the e-commerce giant affirms.

  • Free delivery on millions of local and international items
  • Access to exclusive and award-winning Prime Original series and other movies and TV shows with Prime Video
  • Access to over 1,000 e-books with Prime Reading
  • Benefits for gamers with Twitch Prime
  • Access to discounted priority delivery

The sale frenzy offers several exclusive offers to Aussie Amazon Prime members, lasting until midnight (AEST) on July 17th. Explict sales information is set to be provided on July 16th.

The news makes Australia the first country to kick off ‘Prime Day’ – an event considered Amazon’s most highly anticipated shopping day.

Aussies can join Amazon Prime for the introductory price of A$4.99, or start a free 30-day trial at amazon.com.au/prime in to participate in the sales day.

After January 31st 2019, Prime membership will revert to A$6.99/month.

The news follows the local launch of Amazon Prime on June 19th, offering free two day delivery to 90% of the  population, and access to 8 million items sold on Amazon US.

It also follows Amazon’s decision to block Aussie shoppers from its international websites from July 1st.

Prime Members are also set to receive a A$10 Amazon shopping credit, for Prime Video streaming between July 9th and 15th.

Two months free Kindle Unlimited access, and three months free Audible access (to new users between July 9th to 31st) are also part of the benefits extended to Australian Prime Members.

Amazon Australia Country Manager, Rocco Braeuniger, claims Prime Day provides Aussies “even more value”, with Prime membership said to give an “unparalleled combination” of shopping and entertainment benefits.

Globally, Amazon boasts over 100 million paid Prime members, with benefits including free or expedited delivery, and exclusive product discounts.
