Dyson’s 38mm PencilVac Steals Show as James Dyson Unveils 11 New Products in Berlin
James Dyson has unveiled 11 new products at the Dyson Demo Store in Berlin, headlined by the PencilVac, the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner at just 38mm diameter, alongside AI-powered robots, upgraded cordless vacuums, and haircare innovations featuring ingredients grown on Dyson’s own farms.
Arriving at the event in a vintage Mini, Dyson drew parallels between the revolutionary car design and his company’s approach to reinventing everyday products through engineering innovation.
The Dyson PencilVac represents a radical departure in vacuum design, measuring just 38mm in diameter, the same as a 2 Euro coin.
Powered by the new Hyperdymium 140k motor spinning at 140,000 RPM, the device features a linear dust separation system that compresses debris, allowing the 0.08L bin to hold five times more dust than its capacity suggests.
“I have long wanted to make a vacuum of only 38mm diameter, which is the optimal diameter to hold,” said Dyson.
The device features four conical brush bars powered by two dual drive motors, enabling cleaning in any direction, including sideways and under low furniture.
The upgraded V8 Cyclone delivers 30% more suction power at 150 air watts and 50% longer runtime up to 60 minutes, with hot-swappable batteries for uninterrupted cleaning.
A trigger-less power button and three cleaning modes modernise the design that revolutionised vacuum cleaners in 2016.
Both this and the V16 Piston Animal will feature self-emptying docks from 2026.
The V16 Piston Animal, powered by the Hyperdymium 900W motor delivering 315 air watts, introduces Dynamic Cyclones technology, where five additional cyclones engage in boost mode.
The CleanCompaktor bin holds up to 30 days of compressed dust, while the upgraded Submarine 2.0 wet roller head enables both dry vacuuming and floor washing.
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum represents Dyson’s latest advancement in robotic cleaning, featuring AI stain detection that recognises nearly 200 object types and repeatedly cleans stubborn stains until verified clean through before-and-after image processing.

“It is a determined, intelligent, and adaptable machine,” Dyson explained.
The robot features a 12-point hydration system and cyclonic, bagless dock, avoiding obstacles while providing both wet and dry cleaning capabilities.
The 3.8kg Clean+Wash Hygiene wet and dry cleaner eliminates traditional filters that can harbour bacteria and odours.
Instead, it keeps all dirty water enclosed within the cleaner head, with an ultra-absorbent microfibre roller containing 84,000 microfibres per cm² and embedded nylon bristles.
“The most striking thing about a floor cleaned with this machine is that there is no dirt smearing,” Dyson noted, explaining how the roller is constantly refreshed with clean water on every rotation.
The HushJet Purifier Compact introduces new acoustic technology, operating at just 44 dB at full flow (24 dB in sleep mode) while delivering 80% of the purification capacity of Dyson’s larger Big+Quiet purifier despite being one-third the size.
Dyson also unveiled updated versions of its bladeless fan technology: the Cool CF1 fan with app control and sleep mode, and the Hot+Cool HF1 Remote Link Pre-Heat fan heater, which heats rooms 25% quieter than before while maintaining preferred temperatures via the MyDyson app.
The Supersonic r hair dryer, measuring 38mm in diameter like the PencilVac, features a laminar flow heater and RFID-enabled intelligent attachments.
The Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler incorporates the new Hyperdymium 2 motor, delivering twice the air pressure for easier hair wrapping.
Most uniquely, the Dyson Omega nourishing haircare range combines ingredients from Dyson’s Lincolnshire farms, including sunflower oil, in what Dyson called bringing together “two completely different worlds, farming and beauty.”
The emphasis on no-loss-of-suction, filterless designs, and extended cleaning capabilities addresses common consumer pain points in the Australian market, where Dyson maintains a strong brand presence through retailers like David Jones, Harvey Norman, and the official Dyson store.
With self-emptying docks arriving in 2026 and AI integration becoming standard, Dyson’s latest lineup suggests the company is positioning itself for the next decade of home cleaning innovation.
