HTC $100M Losses

Third quarter operating loss of NT$3.50 bn was also recorded, HTC said today. It is the first ever quarterly loss the original Android smartphone brand has suffered.

The loses were much higher than analysts forecast, adding to the financial woes of the company who has struggled to compete against “two horses” Apple, and Samsung.

The struggling phone maker said third quarter sales totalled NT$47.05 billion. HTC’s September sales were also down 15% y-o-y to NT18,151m, its latest financials show. However, sales were up almost 40% on August.
