Drone Biz To Reap Rewards
The makers of drones are popping the champagne corks after US aviation regulators announced they would relax the rules regarding flying drones. It paves the way for thousands of businesses to fly legally in US airspace and is certain to pump a much needed injection into drone technology.
Under the old rules, drone users needed a commercial operator’s licence, but under the new system commercial drones can be flown as long as the pilot is over the age of 16, has the drone in his or her line of sight, and does not elevate to more than 400 feet (122m) above ground level.
The drone must have lights that can be seen more than three miles away, but can only be operated during the day: night flying is not allowed.
