Dolby Atmos Comes To Beta Firmware for PS5
The PlayStation 5 has received a new bet firmware from Sony, introducing a bunch of new accessibility, social features, and included Dolby Atmos.
Audio can now be output to Dolby Atmos compatible devices, previously only available for Blu-Ray playback, and adds software encoding of Atmos for games.
The audio will be encoded while playing games if required, so it can be outsourced to Atmos-compatible speakers, soundbar, or TV, with support for height channels, and it can be done on the console so games don’t have to be updated.

It also adds support for a second controller, allowing the pairing of two DualSense controllers, recognised as the same primary controller, as well as support for UI navigation events, allowing feedback for moving focus, reaching the end of a scrollable section, checking a box, and more.
The update also includes an added search feature for a library, being able to invite players to parties without automatically adding the player to the group, sending open/closed party invites to groups instead of individually, the ability to see friends in an activity joinable, the ability to see how many tournaments entered, and the highest place achieved, and added reactions with emojis.

There is also support for higher capacity M.2 drives, up to 8TB, and improvements to Game Help, new Discover Tips options, and the ability to mute beep sounds.
The beta will be available to limited users signed up for it in select countries, but others can expect them in the final release, just maybe with a few differences.
