DJI has launched the Neo 2, a compact follow-me camera drone designed to make aerial content creation simpler for beginners and more versatile for experienced users. Weighing 151 grams, it is DJI’s lightest drone equipped with omnidirectional obstacle sensing. The new model introduces gesture control, improved ActiveTrack and a range of automated shooting tools intended for family outings, travel and outdoor sports.

A small display beside the camera lets users check shooting modes at a glance. The drone can launch from the user’s palm and can return the same way through a Return-to-Palm feature that guides it safely back for landing. Gesture Control allows left or right movement, altitude changes and distance adjustment using one or both hands, while voice control provides an additional option for hands-free operation. For longer-range flights, the Neo 2 can be paired with the DJI RC N3 remote controller for up to 10 kilometres of video transmission.

The drone’s 12MP camera uses a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and a new 2 axis gimbal for stable, low noise footage. It supports 4K recording at up to 100 frames per second, slow motion, 2.7K vertical video and multiple intelligent shooting modes including Dolly Zoom, QuickShots and MasterShots. Enhanced tracking allows the drone to follow subjects at up to 12 meters per second in open areas, with eight direction tracking for more dynamic shots. The new SelfieShot feature switches easily between waist up, full body and long shots without extra help.

Beginners benefit from triple layer protection comprising omnidirectional monocular vision, forward facing LiDAR and downward infrared sensing. Integrated propeller guards add another level of safety, while improved hovering and positioning make flights more reliable in complex environments such as indoors or near buildings.

With level 5 wind resistance, up to 19 minutes of flight time and 49GB of internal storage, the Neo 2 can hold more than 100 minutes of 4K footage. Files transfer quickly to a smartphone through Wi Fi at up to 80MB per second for fast editing in the DJI Fly app.

DJI Neo 2 is available now through DJI’s online store and authorised retailers. Prices start at $409 for the drone only, with several Fly More and Motion Fly More Combo options also available. DJI Care Refresh is offered for the new model, covering accidental damage including collisions, water exposure and flyaway.
