Devialet has unveiled its Phantom Ultimate speaker collection, featuring next-generation ADH amplification technology and models ranging from $2,850 to $6,450 for the 22-karat gold Opéra de Paris edition.

The Parisian audio company, known for its sculptural designs and 250+ patents, launches two models, the flagship 108dB and compact 98dB, in three finishes including hand-applied gold detailing from the workshop that restored the Palais Garnier.

The Phantom Ultimate series introduces ADH New Gen (Analog Digital Hybrid) technology, combining Class A analog amplification with Class D digital efficiency to achieve frequency response up to 35kHz in the flagship model.

The system delivers 1,100W of amplification power in the 108dB version.

Key technologies include:

  • SAM (Speaker Active Matching): Real-time algorithm protecting drivers while maintaining phase and amplitude accuracy
  • HBI (Heart Bass Implosion): Enables bass response down to 14Hz despite compact form factor
  • AVL (Adaptive Volume Level): Dynamic volume adjustment borrowed from Devialet’s Dione soundbar
  • NXP i.MX 8M Nano SoC processor: Enhanced audio processing with improved energy efficiency

“We are reaffirming our status as a luxury pioneer in audio with this new launch,” says CEO Jacques Demont.

“We invite listeners to experience sound with unprecedented intensity, clarity, and depth.”

Phantom Ultimate 108dB (AUD $5,700 / USD $3,800)

  • Frequency response: 14Hz-35kHz (+/- 6dB)
  • Total amplification: 1,100W
  • 32-bit/96kHz audio processing
  • WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3
  • Four newly registered patents

Phantom Ultimate 98dB (AUD $2,850 / USD $1,900)

  • Frequency response: 18Hz-25kHz (+/- 6dB)
  • Total amplification: 400W
  • Co-spherical wide-band driver design
  • Solo, stereo, or multi-room configurations

Both models support AirPlay, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and UPnP streaming.

The collaboration with Opéra national de Paris, established in 2017, produces limited editions with 22-karat gold hand-applied by Ateliers Gohard master gilders.

Pricing reaches $6,450 (USD $4,300) for the 108dB version and $3,600 (USD $2,400) for the 98dB model.

Devialet offers premium accessories including:

  • Cocoon carrying case ($450): Water-repellent with mountaineering-grade handles
  • Treepod stand ($525): Solid ash legs with hand-polished aluminium alloy
  • Gecko wall mount ($450): Precision-engineered in matching finishes
  • Remote control ($300): Synchronises across stereo setups

All products include two-year warranty with optional three-year extension via Devialet Care ($180).

At $5,700, the flagship 108dB competes with high-end wireless speakers from Bang & Olufsen’s BeoLab series ($8,000+) and KEF’s LS60 Wireless ($7,995), while offering unique French design aesthetics and proprietary technologies.

The compact 98dB at $2,850 targets the premium wireless speaker segment dominated by Naim Mu-so 2 ($2,499) and B&W Formation Wedge ($1,999), providing superior bass extension and power output.

Early Phantom speakers impressed with striking design and powerful bass but lacked tonal richness.

The Ultimate series addresses these limitations through refined amplification and processing, delivering fuller midrange and extended highs while maintaining the signature dramatic bass response.

The addition of AVL from the Dione soundbar and improved processor architecture suggests Devialet has listened to audiophile feedback about previous generations’ shortcomings.

The Phantom Ultimate 98dB is available immediately through Devialet stores, premium audio dealers, and online.

The flagship 108dB model is available for pre-order. Australian customers should note pricing is per speaker, not per pair, following high-end audio market conventions.
