Melbourne based accessories company Cygnett has landed a two year deal at Flemington, backing one of the few certainties at the Melbourne Cup Carnival: someone’s phone will run out of juice before the last race.

The agreement with the Victoria Racing Club makes Cygnett the Official Charging Partner of the VRC and the Melbourne Cup Carnival, giving racegoers access to complimentary phone charging across the course.

At the event that stops a nation, Cygnett’s job will be to make sure the phones keep going.

The Australian company will also be present alongside some of Australia’s and the World’s most prestigious brands, adding power banks to a precinct better known for champagne, elaborate hats and people insisting they picked the winner.

Birdcage guests will have access to a custom-built charging lounge within the Garden of Renewal, a fitting address for a phone sitting on 2% and its owner beginning to panic.

The lounge will offer complimentary charging, with Cygnett Power Banks available to purchase for guests who want enough battery life to photograph their outfit, check their bets and locate the friends they lost three marquees ago.

Beyond the Birdcage, complimentary charging stations will operate throughout Flemington during the Carnival. Permanent stations in Members’ and general admission areas will also provide charging access across the racing season.

For punters, it means at least one thing can leave Flemington replenished, even if their betting account cannot.

VRC chief executive Kylie Rogers said the club was delighted to welcome Cygnett.

“At the VRC, we always look for ways to improve the experience for our members and guests, and this partnership with Cygnett supports the world-class experience people expect at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.”

“Whether racegoers are capturing special moments, sharing their Carnival experience or staying connected throughout the day, having access to convenient charging facilities across Flemington will make their visit even more enjoyable.”

Cygnett chief executive Jason Carrington said the partnership reflected the company’s ambition to keep people connected when it matters.

“We’re excited to partner with the Victoria Racing Club as the Official Charging Partner of the VRC and the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington.

“This partnership is a natural fit for Cygnett and reflects the role we want our brand to play in people’s lives — keeping them connected in the moments that matter.

“Through this partnership, Cygnett will provide free and accessible phone charging across Flemington, helping ensure a flat battery never gets in the way of a great day at the races, and making your way home safely.”

Cygnett cannot help you pick a winner. But it can help ensure you have enough battery left to explain to your partner why you didn’t.
