Coles Credit Card Holder Data Stolen In Latitude Attack
Coles has confirmed that historic users of its former credit cards may have had their personal data stolen as part of the recent Latitude cyber breach.
“As a former service provider, Latitude Financial Services has informed Coles Financial Services that historical Coles Credit Card holder data has been affected by the recent cyber incident impacting their business,” Coles wrote in a statement.
“Latitude has not yet advised Coles of the number of impacted customers or specific details of the breach.
In March 2018, Coles Financial Services moved its credit cards from Latitude to Citibank, meaning this should only impact those who had the former card.
Coles is urging anyone with questions about current Coles Mastercards to contact its Financial Services department.
“We are disappointed that this cyber incident has taken place and apologise for the inconvenience and uncertainty created,” the supermarket giant said.
So far, Coles is the only retailer to confirm the breach has impacted their customer base.
Harvey Norman, David Jones, JB Hi-Fi, and the Apple Store, all of whom have their financial services offerings tied up with Latitude, have neither confirmed nor denied whether their customer details were caught up in the breach.
