CES 2018: JBL Releases Google Assistant Headphones, Sports Headphones and Updated Speakers

Adding to its Google Assistant range, JBL has debuted its Google Assistant enabled headphones amongst its range of updated speakers at CES 2018.

The JBL Everest 710GA, 310GA and 110GA headphones are available in either around-ear, on-ear and in-ear. These headphones work on any smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth.

With the Google Assistant, users can take full control of their music experience with the use of voice control and receive notifications without needing to look at their smartphone or tablet. To access the Google Assistant, JBL users need to download the Assistant on your smartphone, connect the headphone and then simply touch the sensors located on the ear cup

The wireless headphones’ battery lasts up to 8 to 25 hours, depending on the model. Additionally, a quick recharge feature enables users to quickly juice up the battery to maximum capacity.

Jessica Garvey, Vice President, Headphones and Wearables, Lifestyle Audio Division at HARMAN says, “Adding the Google Assistant to the Everest line is another step we’re taking to pair JBL’s legacy of award-winning sound with a growing line-up of voice-controlled devices. Having the Google Assistant on JBL Everest GA headphones means you can stay connected to more of what matters to you, whether that’s enjoying music, getting information about the world around you or managing your daily tasks –just by using your voice.”

JBL has released four new separate endurance headphones, the Endurance Run, Sprint, Jump and Dive made for specific sporting endeavours. The headphones are built with the IPX7 waterproof technology, Twistlock Technology and FlexSoft Comfort Fit silicon materials. The battery lasts for 8 hours and its Speed Charge battery charges one hour of playback in just 10 minutes of charge.

The Endurance Run is a wired earphone with IPX5 sweatproof rating and a tangle-free cord with remote and microphone so users can take calls and listen to music while hiking or on a jog through the neighborhood. Its FlipHook design provides flexibility to wear both in-ear and behind-the-ear.

The Endurance Sprint cuts the cords with a wireless design and boasts an IPX7 waterproof rating with MagHook magnetic earbuds for easy storage and convenience, so users can hit their playlists when their sneakers touch the track or the field.

The JBL Endurance Jump has a durable neckband for secure fit and PowerHook buds that turn on and instantly connect when users wear them, and turn off when users take them off to ensure athletes can focus on every push-up, pull-up or squat.

JBL Endurance Dive includes the same features as Jump, but is designed for places where a smartphone can’t go. Including 1GB of onboard MP3 music storage for up to 200 music tracks, users can enjoy their favourite music in the water.

Garvey says, “Combining our award-winning patented ergonomics with technology that withstands the most intense athletic performance, JBL Endurance earphones offer a range of solutions that can work with any athlete’s routine.”

During the Las Vegas show JBL has also unveiled the updated Clip 3, with now 10 hours of playback, increased durability and different colours to previous models. The new colours include Dusty Pink, Steel White, and Ocean Blue. JBL says the new shape takes its iconic carabiner to the next level, framing the entire perimeter of the speaker, and acting as a bumper. The inside of the carbineer now boasts a JBL patterned-rubber lining, giving the speaker the ability to grip onto slippery surfaces.

Andy Tsui, Vice President, Smart Audio Business Unit, Harman says, “It’s always exciting when we’re able to bring new generations of customer favourites to life. The JBL Clip 3 showcases a contemporary design that provides the same JBL Signature Sound people love, in the form of a small, compact and portable speaker.”

With an echo and noise cancelling speakerphone, people will be able to use the Clip 3 to connect their smartphone via Bluetooth and make crystal-clear calls.

All mentioned products will be available in Autumn.
