CES: Alcatel’s 2018 LineUp Boasts 18:9 Display & Face ID

Alcatel has offered a glimpse of its 2018 smartphone portfolio, featuring a suite of ‘flagship’ specifications – e.g. facial unlock and 18:9 display – as the TCL owned company enhances its position in the value market.

The company claims its 2018 lineup will be one of the first ranges to offer 18:9 display as standard across all three of its new product series. It further cements its dedication to “flagship style and features” at “mid to entry-level price points”.

Christian Gatti, Global President Alcatel Business Division and Executive VP TCL Communication affirms:

“By modernising our smartphone designs and being one of the first global manufacturers to offer 18:9 displays across the majority of our lineup, we’re able to refocus our efforts at democratising flagship style features and making these experiences accessible to almost any consumer worldwide”

“As the global smartphone market continues to evolve, we come into a new year recognising the need to stabilise and transform our Alcatel smartphone portfolio to better serve our customers and meet the opportunities ahead”.

Alcatel will standardise panel manufacturing across its forthcoming portfolio, utilising Alcatel FullView 18:9 displays. Claimed to be a “top three LCD panel maker”, parent company TCL will provide Alcatel with access to “critical manufacturing efficiencies” and “billions of dollars” in R&D, said to save time and pass on savings to consumers.

The company’s 2018 smartphone line up comprises of three distinct series, with its own pricing tier.

Despite the price differential, Alcatel claims the forthcoming lineup maintains a “flagship look and feel”.

Alcatel 5 Series

Marketed as the company’s “affordable premium tier of smartphones”, the 5 Series offers features such as facial unlock, Alcatel FullView 18:9 display and a battery for a full day’s use.

Alcatel 3 Series

The 3 Series offers an “optimal blend” of features and affordability, with features such as  dual cameras and Alcatel FullView 18:9 display.

Alcatel 1 Series

The 1 Series is the company’s most affordable range in its 2018 portfolio, and offers a unibody design, Alcatel FullView 18:9 displays and face unlocking.
