CES 2017: Sennheiser Shows Off Their New Neckbuds

This year’s CES was a big one for Sennhesier, with the high-end audio specialists announcing a slew of new products.

Chief among them was the expansion of their AMBEO tech into the consumer space with the AMBEO Smart Surround earbuds.

“Today’s consumers are accustomed to capturing incredibly realistic video, producing 4K and 360° videos. Yet as   mainstream technology makes immersive visual experiences ever more accessible, the power and emotion of this footage is too often let down by the quality of sound that these devices can    capture. AMBEO Smart Surround is an innovative solution that closes this gap,”  said Dr. Andreas Sennheiser, co-CEO of Sennheiser.

“With AMBEO Smart Surround we are taking the next step into the future of audio. We are inviting consumers to experience immersive  sound  by  adding  a recording earphone into  our  AMBEO  technology program,” added Co-CEO Daniel Sennheiser.

Touting a compact, in-ear design that emphasizes portability and simplicity, Sennheiser are trying to make capturing high-quality soundscapes as easy as shooting video on a smartphone.

The AMBEO Smart Surround will be available in the second half of 2017. Australian pricing and availability is to be confirmed.

Sennheiser are also using CES to launch their new HD 4.50BTNC and HD 4.40BT wireless headsets.

According to the company, “Both HD4.50BTNC and HD4.40BT employ the advanced wireless technology and audio codec of Bluetooth 4.0 and aptX to deliver true wireless Hi-Fi sound.”

The key difference between the two will come down to battery life and the incorporation of Sennhesier’s NoiseGard tech in the HD 4.50BTNC.

The HD4.40BT drops the feature but pushes battery life to an impressive 25 hours – six hours longer than that of the 4.50BTNC.

Both will arrive in Australian retailers and resellers from March. Exact pricing is unavailable at this time.

Last but not least, Sennhesier have also announced a premium new pair of in-ear wireless headphones to its Momentum range.

Simply called the Momentum In-Ear Wireless, the company says they bring the “signiature Momentum sound to a compact in-ear headphone” and feature powerful bass response, detailed vocal projection and great sound stage.

Featuring 10 hours of battery life, a three button remote also comes integrated into the headband alongside a high-quality microphone.

Sennhesier say that the In-Ear wireless is designed for comfortable all day listening and promise that the impact-resistant poly-carbonate used in the build of the buds will add durability to the equation.

“MOMENTUM headphones are inspired by people that push boundaries and refuse to compromise in fulfilling their ambition,” said Dr. Christian Ern, Head of Portfolio Management Audiophile at Sennheiser.

He says that “with the new MOMENTUM In-Ear Wireless, we are bringing this ethos to a compact Bluetooth neckband headphone.”

It’ll be available in Australia from March 2017. Pricing to be confirmed.
